The Big Sleuth Farewell Weekend & Auction

The Big Sleuth - Strawbeary

The Big Sleuth

It’s been great to be involved in The Big Sleuth, a public art exhibition in Birmingham with around 100 giant bear sculptures on the streets of Birmingham. They’re painted by artists with so many different and amazing designs.

My bear’s called Strawbeary, featuring strawberries with faces on a background of green leaves, with cute bees and ladybirds. He’s been on display in Sutton Coldfield for 10 weeks over the summer and I’ve loved seeing your photos with him.

Farewell Weekend

Your last chance to see the bears is on 6th-8th October 2017 at Eastside Park by Millennium Point in Birmingham. All the bears will be together, so you can see them all without following the trail all over the city. There’ll also be stalls, food, music and entertainment.

You need a ticket to get into the Farewell Weekend – it’s £5 for adults and £3 for children (under 4s are free). Proceeds go to Birmingham Childrens Hospital. You can get your tickets online from The Big Sleuth website.

The Big Sleuth Auction

On 12th October the bears will be auctioned to raise money for Birmingham Childrens Hospital. They’re aiming to raise £500,000 for the hospital.

Strawbeary could be yours! If you or your company want to bid in the auction, register on The Big Sleuth website. You can get a ticket for the live auction, or register to bid remotely. There’ll also be a live stream so you can watch the auction.

Last time in The Big Hoot, my owl Tea T-Owl sold for £6000 – I just couldn’t believe it! He sold to a private buyer for their garden – I’d love to know where he is now!

See How I Painted Strawbeary!

Watch my speed painting video for 8 days of painting sped up to just a few minutes and see how I painted Strawbeary back in May!

You can also see what it was like at the launch party, when all 100 bears were together for the first time, with a few picks of my favourite bears from Strawbeary’s brothers and sisters.
