I’ve left it a bit late to draw my own Christmas cards this year, and am attempting to get them done this weekend just in time for the last Christmas post.
For UK people the last day to place Christmas orders is Monday – place your order before midnight on Monday night and you will get it in time for Christmas. (Disclaimer: if it snows and Royal Mail messes up it’s not my fault!)
So while I was thinking of ideas for my Christmas cards I drew this…
It was supposed to be Christmassy, and started off with just a girl looking up at a star, but then I thought it would be more interesting to add some kind of element of menace! My original sketch is below – I tried a different kind of monster first, then decided on the tentacle reaching out. I always sketch by hand first, then scan in and use as a guide to work over with my graphics tablet.
So next I’ll be drawing my own Christmas cards – I won’t post them in the gallery till after I’ve sent them out, so it doesn’t ruin the surprise for anyone I’m sending them to! Have a great Christmas!
