MCM Expo Manchester 2012
Thank you to everyone who came along to MCM Expo Manchester 2012! It was the first time I’ve had a stall there and we’ll definitely be back next year.
It was really busy – with over 11,300 people! It seemed like a lot more people had early entry tickets, as there were more people there early in the day than at MCM in London. At lunchtime the queue still went right round the building:
I had a larger stall than normal, with two tables, and it was great to have lots of room for displays, instead of trying to cram everything on any way it could fit!
And there was some other new stuff: a brand new t-shirt design, bumblebee cat – which will be hitting the shop very soon – and some of the paintings I’ve been doing recently (because people made so many lovely comments about them on Facebook!).
It was great to meet lots of new people and say hi to all the awesome people on other stalls we’ve got to know: Japan Underground, Great Beast, Kaos Comics and Nich Angell (check out his amazing artwork here). There were lots of great stalls including con favourites Tofu Cute, United Publications, Neon Martian and Tokyo Toys, as well as a stall selling cupcakes. I wished there was a stall selling ice creams as it was really really hot! I also heard (but didn’t see) Robots Live and there was a big scream, which I guess is when Warwick Davis came out to do autographs. And I caught a glimpse of some anime dancing on the stage.
You can see the rest of my photos on Facebook – there are more of the event and some cosplayers – add tags if you find yourself! I always mean to take more photos but get distracted…
So my next event will be London Edge – it’s a trade show so not open to the public, but if you do own a shop, come along and say hi – and then MCM Expo London in October, which is going to be really huge!
And check back soon for the cute new bumblebee cat t-shirts – they’ll be hitting the shop in the next week…
