Magical Kyoto Tunic – Black Version
UPDATE: The black Magical Kyoto tunics are now on general release!
Black Version by Popular Demand
When I was first designing the pattern, like all designs, it went through various versions. The design started as a development of the cherry blossom watch (now sold out). First I made a pattern with just cherry blossom branches. I tried out various sizes, but it looked too floral for my liking, so I expanded the design with elements from a Japanese garden: bridges, teahouses and stone lanterns, and torii gates because I love the shape.
Ever since I visited to Kyoto I wanted to create a design inspired by the elegance of traditional Japan. While it’s modern Japan that stole my heart, the traditional side of the culture is beautiful in its simplicity and balance, and I know it’s what draws a lot of people to the country. This design is a celebration of the beauty of historic Japan, and Magical Kyoto was the perfect name! You can see my adventures in Kyoto on YouTube – my favourite was Fushimi Inari with the thousands of red gates going all the way up a mountain.
Pre-order for Delivery Early September
They’re in production right now and will be ready early September 2017. Pre-orders will be send out as soon as they’re ready. You’ll receive an email notification when yours is on its way. After that they’ll be on general release in the shop.
The tunic tops are available in UK sizes 6 to 20. Chest measurements are in the shop if you’re not familiar with UK sizes. The sizing’s the same as the dresses – a little on the small side, so if you’re between sizes (particularly for the smaller sizes) or large in the chest I’d recommend choosing the larger size. The tunics are fitted at the chest and flare out at the hips, and look perfect with leggings and shorts.
I wear size small in ladies t-shirts and I’m wearing size 8-10 in the photo (the pattern’s just a mock-up but the fit’s the same as the white version):
The original, white version of the tunic is still available. Both versions will continue to be on general release, so you have the choice of black or white.
There’s a collection of your photos on Pinterest – it makes me so happy to look through them all, so if I’ve missed yours just send me a message!
