Currently the online shop is still open, and orders are being despatched within 1 working day. This will continue for as long as it’s possible and safe to do so, with minimal contact with others. Royal Mail have confirmed that viruses aren’t transmitted by post.
Cakes with Faces is a one-person business run by me, Amy (hello!). It’s my full-time employment. There are no other staff coming to work, and no one else handling your orders.
I’ve been practicing social distancing since a couple of weeks before the lockdown started in the UK. I’ve only been going out when it’s essential, and trying to keep a distance from other people, to keep everyone safe.
With a business account, your orders are dropped off at the Post Office without standing in a queue. The process involves minimal contact with others.
Online retail has been encouraged by the government. While financial support will be available to the self-employed, closing the shop entirely would impact my business in the long run, which I rely on for my livelihood.
Delays to Orders
Please order in good time in case of delays in the postal service.
If it’s not possible to despatch your order for any reason, I’ll let you know as soon as possible, and you’ll of course have the option of a full refund. And if the situation changes, I’ll update the information here.
I’ve had reports that international orders are in some cases taking a few days longer than usual to arrive. Any bans on international travel are for people, not goods, and the mail service is still operational to most countries, if a little slower than usual.
If you’re ordering from outside the UK and you need your items for a particular date, please allow good time for them to arrive.
UPDATE 01/04/20: Royal Mail has now advised against sending to several countries because the mail service is on suspension. These are listed on Royal Mail’s website. If you order from a country on suspension, your order will not be despatched until the mail service is running again, to avoid your items getting lost in transit. You’ll receive an email to let you know.
Sending a Gift?
Online shopping is perfect for social distancing and self-isolation. If you need to send a gift to someone, I can send it straight to them for you.
All orders come with a hand-written message and are wrapped in tissue paper, to make receiving your parcel as personal as possible. Customers have even said it feels like their birthday when their order arrives!
If you’re ordering a gift for someone, just add a note at checkout saying who it’s for and a special message will be hand-written on a card for them. (Or I’ll write a message for you, if it’s a gift for yourself!).
All items are sent without prices as standard.
