Shipping to the USA

There have recently been huge price hikes from USPS, which have significantly increased the cost of Airmail to the USA, from the start of July 2020.

In the past, shipping rates have been kept the same throughout small price increases; however this time the increase is so significant that, as a small business, it’s not possible this time. This change only affects the USA; rates remain the same for all other countries.

Why has this happened?

This change is because of what’s happening with USPS (United States Postal Service), which has recently been forced to raise prices – more in this news story. USPS handles “final mile” delivery of Airmail once it’s in the USA.

This means Royal Mail have also had to raise their prices significantly, and create a new pricing category just for the USA. It now costs £17.73 to send a hoodie to the USA.

There’s an online petition against the changes that are damaging this vital service, and to show support for USPS. The recent changes are affecting small businesses like mine, all around the world.

What are the new shipping rates?

The new rates are as low and fair as possible, and they’re less than the actual cost of the shipping. I value my customers in the USA greatly and don’t want the shipping rates to put you off ordering my designs.

The new rates are based on the size and weight of the parcel. They’re calculated at checkout. Here’s how to check the postage cost:

  • Add items to your cart.
  • Go to the cart
  • Select “United States” from the Shipping Calculator and click “Update”.
  • The shipping cost will be shown in the “Cart Totals” section.

You can check the amount as many times as you wish, before checking out or entering any of your personal details. To check the amount in dollars, use

T-shirts and Dresses

If you order a single t-shirt or dress, the new rate is £5.50 (currently about $6.75).

Small Items

These don’t weigh much so you can add as many as you like to your order without affecting the shipping cost. This includes enamel pin badges and temporary tattoos.

Hoodies and Cushions

For one hoodie, shipping is £15 (currently about $18.50). This is due to the weight and larger parcel size. Cushions and flip flops are the same rate.

An order of two hoodies weighs over a kilogram, so the new rate is £20 (currently about $24.50). Economy options are available – explained in the next section:

Economy Shipping

For parcels there’s now the option of economy shipping. This is a slower but more affordable service.

Economy parcels are sent via Royal Mail International Economy, which takes around 6 weeks from the UK to the USA. There’s no tracking on this service. It’s half the price of standard Airmail, which takes 2-3 weeks. With the price rises, I wanted to offer a lower cost option, to make my designs available to everyone.

Please bear in mind that with the coronavirus pandemic, the mail service is running slower than usual, especially for international deliveries, so delivery times may take longer than usual.

If you order the wrong size, you’re welcome to send items back for an exchange, as long as they’re in original condition. Please be aware that you’ll need to pay for the postage for returning the item, and delivery for the replacement. With the price rise, it’s unfortunately no longer possible to cover the second delivery cost for the replacement item.
